On the streets of Orlando...
Just in case you were wondering, I'm still scavenging the streets of Orlando in search of furniture. Well, maybe it's finding me more these days. This is my most recent curb find (picked up and stuffed in the front seat of my dear friend, Leah Fairchild's car after a late night of art show hopping). It's one of the best pieces I've found (it's actually not wicker) and it's in great shape! Also, it swivels...swoon...I'm a little bit in love with this chair.

Here are a few pieces from my show this month at Club 57 West entitled Perceptions of Persuasive Peacocks. It was such a fun night! The Show will be up until mid September. Look for my work next month at the Redlight Redlight show, Afflactus on September 25th! XOX

Yesterday's Project

Too many projects to count...
I have taken on quite a bit here lately. I can't seem to help it though. Beyond the pieces I have to have ready to fulfill my obligations to Tangos and Artistree, I have several pieces of furniture to refinish! I just keep finding new pieces that I can't pass up.
Last Sunday I picked up this little utility drop leaf table, and while it's not particularly fancy, it has something. It's rather small. In fact when the sides are down, it can't be more than 10 inches wide, but when they're up..it provides a good deal of space. It also has rather cute legs
It's made much like an old style banquet table (and just as heavy). I haven't decided on a color scheme for it yet, but it's already sitting quite perfectly in my kitchen. It's ideal as a breakfast nook and doubles as a great space for my youngest to do homework. Of course the best part is that it's a drop leaf, so when it's not in use it takes up very little space. I love it!
Earlier this week when I was driving the boys to school, I spotted a small table on the curb that of course peeked my interest. With little more than 5 minutes to spare (or the boys would be late) I pulled over and quickly hauled the cutest table ever into my minivan. What a treasure this table is! It was covered in leaves, a layer of greenish pollen like substance, and is chipping and peeling a bit in some places.. but it's just begging to be made lovely again.
I haven't yet taken pictures of the new find, but will over the weekend and with any luck I'll have some finished pieces to share next week!
Cheers!

Trashy Tuesday: The very first as promised....
Today is the day that I said would come.. The very first Trashy Tuesday!
As I mentioned last week, finding and fixin up furniture has been one
of my most favorite hobbies over the years.
Now...let it be known that I am not a real fussy person.
I'm a woman of the opinion that good enough, really is good enough!
That being said...I may not (in fact I probably won't) fix every little flaw a piece has
and I probably won't paint it just so.
Good Enough will do just fine for my needs.
What do I intend to do with all of the furniture from the curbs of Orlando?
I have no idea!I'll pick up what I think I can use and most importantly fit in my house.
If I see something I can't fit in my house well or don't need, but can't drive passed...
I will pick it up clean and/or paint it if necessary and pass it on to someone else.
Basically, who cares...I'll figure it out!
For the very first Trashy Tuesday I've painted a little table that I found a couple blocks from my home.

I mentioned it on facebook last week.
Yes, indeedy this is my bitchin little two tiered side table in red, orange, and pink!
The trim is not black, but burnt umber.
It's by no means perfect...the lines are not pristine, but it's worlds away from what it was when I picked it up.
Now it will find a comphy little corner in my studio or next to my sofa where it can live a happy little life with me instead of in a garbage heap.

Personally, I think that is swell!

A Very Brunchy Crafty Sunday
Today was a very perfect day. I met up with some friends for a potluck style brunch and crafting. We all had different projects to work on ...such as painting, decoupaging, origami, and even canvas building! The food was delicious, and the company was even better.
I decoupaged a box with little papers cut outs from note cards, magazines, etc...

Rain is coming soon, which means cleaning, listening to music, and hopefully planting the herbs (in pots) that I picked up a few days ago. They've been sitting in my studio just waiting for me to take care of them.... Happy Sunday!
